In the community gardens, elders and their grandchildren apply permaculture principles. Yields are increasing and benefiting the entire neighborhood. These practices are even spreading beyond our communities.

The testimony of Manuela, Nathalie and Patrick upon their return from Goma
10 December 2025
In Goma, people long more than ever for a daily life finally marked by peace. In this context, we hope that the recent peace agreements will be implemented without delay and will finally put an end to the violence and insecurity affecting the region. While waiting for this to happen, the need for support remains immense – and vital.
In this context, our projects play a vital role. They strengthen bonds of solidarity and offer everyone very concrete prospects for the future.
Young single mothers trained in agroecology, once isolated and stigmatized, have become respected figures in their neighborhoods. They are regaining dignity and autonomy through income-generating activities.
At the Agape – Kisany atelier, the decline in local economic activity came as a shock. But the additional training put in place has enabled several artisans to launch small activities while waiting for better days.
The young people of Promo Jeune Basket, always present at training, draw powerful motivation from the sport. Some even reach international level. All of them find in it a strong alternative to the recruitment attempts of armed groups.
The Kivu International School maintains a high level of excellence despite the temporary departure of many students during recent events. Most are gradually returning, although the economic difficulties weigh heavily on families.
At the Foyer Culturel de Goma, instruments, dance, singing, and theatre continue to be taught. Interactive performances allow young people to express their emotions and overcome the traumas linked to the conflict.
Finally, Inuka – which supports families facing extreme hardship – is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Each intervention supported by EALE, whether focused on children’s schooling or training for parents, helps entire families regain stability and offers them the possibility of a better future.
From our mission in Goma, we return deeply moved by the strength, dignity, and determination of the people we support. Despite uncertainty, despite the violence still too present around the city, we saw communities rising again, young people daring to dream once more, families regaining stability, and projects that are truly transforming lives.
Every cultivated garden, every young mother trained, every student returning to school, every teenager choosing sport over weapons, every family supported – all of this is possible only thanks to the solidarity that binds us together. Thanks to you.
Today, more than ever, En Avant les Enfants must continue to offer these spaces of hope and rebuilding. In this fragile context, your support makes all the difference: it protects, it nourishes, it educates, it restores confidence.
Together, let us carry this momentum forward. Together, let us ensure that these thousands of children, young people, and families can continue to believe in a better future.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your commitment at their side.
Manuela, Nathalie and Patrick
